What is OUTBREAK?

Outbreak is a short film directed by Yeltsin Penado. Yeltsin has curated a series of modifications for the survival roleplaying video game - DayZ. Outbreak utilizes a server and allows players to join this experience through the DZSA launcher.

This is an online mutliplayer experience: there are people - in real time - interacting with each other, building homes, eating, sitting, and surviving.

These players can choose to Cooperate or battle each other. They can choose to build a base and inhabit the sprawling desert map of TakistanPlus

Takistan is a fictional Central Asian country located near the fictional Green Sea. It borders the fictional country of Chernarus. 'Plus' refers to an updated modification to this terrain.

What Is a MOD?

A mod is an alteration by players or fans of a video game that changes one or more aspects of a video game, such as how it looks or behaves. Mods may range from small changes and tweaks to complete overhauls, and can extend the replay value and interest of the game.

Players Join Outbreak and are tracked as they progress on their journey through the landscape. Admin commands and configuration files are used to plot points and follow players for filming.

"I have developed a program that searches configuration files and server logs for specific players that have participated. Members of this experience stockpile and build in interesting places.

I have also employed the use of Post-Processing software (Reshade) to produce high resolution images for documentation. This allows me to manually increase the fidelity of the game for production."

V 1.0 - TakistanPlus map added

End - 12/27/21 - project is on hiatus until further notice.

Added MoreGuns Mod to server. This Mod broadens the weapon offerings in the loot tables.

10/1/2021 - Server online . . . Cherno due to lack of mods on my new hard drive.

What is DayZ?

DayZ is a survival video game developed and published by Bohemia Interactive. It is the standalone successor of the mod of the same name for the game ARMA 2.

"It's essentially an online video game that is set in the zombie apocalypse. The point of the game is to Survive by any means. Players must manage their character's thirst and hunger. They are challenged to search through abandoned towns for anything of use. Other players can be hostile and there are Zombies. The Zombies have been infected by a mysterious Virus. The Zombies are strong and violent. its up to the player whether or not they want to collaborate or kill each other for supplies."

How to Join

You Must own DayZ on Steam (PC version), to Join.

To access the OUTBREAK server, you must search on DZSA Launcher
